AMIM 4-in-1 Event 2021 (Friendly Golf)

AMIM 4-in-1 Event 2021 is held in conjunction with the Workshop on The Revision of Government Boat & Ship Repair Tariff (GBSRT). This event comprises Networking Lunches & Dinners, AMIM Friendly Golf 2021, AMIM Annual General Meeting 2021 & AMIM Networking Dinner 2021 – A Night With Special Guest.

For your info, GBSRT was developed in 1992 and is widely used as a term of reference for the standard prices in the maintenance and repair works of Government Vessels. The last revision of the tariff was in 2012 and is still being used now.AMIM has been working hard to revise the tariff since the establishment of the AMIM GBSRT Task Force in January 2018. Since then, various engagements, workshops, meetings & forums have been organized by AMIM. And now, we are proud to inform you that we are at the final stage of finalizing the GBSRT with Government agencies, so let’s put the finishing touch on it and get the revised tariff ready for the benefits of the industry especially to AMIM members.

The workshop’s main objective is the revision of the current Government Tariff. Above all, the workshop is about closing the gap between the Government and the industry players. The session will combine a variety of debates and brainstorming with facts & figures to help give us the best solution for all stakeholders.

The events bring together important key people from the Royal Malaysian Navy, Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency, Marine Police, Department of Fisheries, Marine Department, Royal Malaysian Custom, MOF & MINDEF together with AMIM diverse membership for 3-days of networking, work, food, fun, and camaraderie.

AMIM Annual Dinner 2019 was held on 26th October 2019 at Le Meridien Putrajaya. The event was graced by YB Tuan Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport and attended by 400 guests.

This is in line with AMIM objective to promote cooperation between its members and affiliated members with the object of forming a healthy working relationship between parties. With the participation from the representatives of MIDA and the Royal Malaysian Navy, this visit also became the bridge that connects the industry and the government closer, assisting them in providing valuable inputs for the betterment of the industry and ultimately bringing progress to Malaysia as a whole.

Maritime industry meeting with MOT. Focus discussion on issues and challenges which was chaired by YBrs Puan Normah Osman, TKSU (Dasar) MOT. Also in attendance Jabatan Laut Malaysia, MASA, MOSVA, IKMAL, myMET, MASTRA, SSSA and this is the first meeting together under the Coalition Of Maritime Professionals, Associations & Shipping Sectors, Malaysia (COMPASS).

New IMP Workshop

Proceeding from a series of New IMP workshops held in early 2020, MIGHT organised a Focus Group Discussion with key stakeholders earlier today. They presented on the Work in Progress on the New Industrial Master Plan. AMIM provided significant insight into this national strategy document in driving towards sustainable industry development especially in the pandemic recovery era.

AMIM East Coast Shipyards Members Visit

On 23rd & 24th September 2020, the Acting President of Association of Marine Industries of Malaysia (AMIM), Mr. Soo Jee Main and 20 more AMIM members visited the AMIM members located at East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. AMIM Delegation visited MSET Shipbuilding Corporation Sdn Bhd, the oldest member of AMIM & Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) with both located at Kuala Terengganu on the first day of the visit. On the 2ndday, AMIM visited Sulong Marine Slipway, a small local yard located at Kuala Terengganu with experience over 40 years of building wooden boats/ships. The delegation then moves further down the coastline visiting Geliga Slipway at Kemaman & Pernepa Engineering & Maritime Services at Kuantan.

It was quite an eye-opening visit led to AMIM & its East Coast Members deepening ties and to building a solid partnership in a wide range of fields. The visit on 23 & 24 September gave an opportunity to have fruitful discussion about future bilateral relations, expectations and how AMIM could further boost their active contribution to the marine industry especially SBSR sector.
